As the project lead on Community Safety, I manage MCC’s delivery of Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week on behalf of the GMCA. We create printed collateral, book outdoor advertising across the city region, run targeted Facebook ads, and produce a launch video each year.
This video is from our 2022 HCAW campaign, and remains my favourite. MCC designated that year to be 2022 Our Year, a yearlong programme of additional support for children and young people in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. I took this as inspiration for the year’s Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week campaign, and wrote the script that some of the amazing students at Manchester Academy were kind enough to perform.
